Dignity Invitation
The Illinois Dignity Coalition has extended an invitation for all Presidential candidates to participate in a debate that is specifically about mental health and addiction recovery. 25% of voters have a mental health diagnosis and 0% of candidates are debating mental health policy on the national stage.
“The Illinois Dignity Coalition is comprised of individuals participating in public mental health services, dedicated to infusing dignity in all parts of society.”
Some candidates have position statements on their campaign websites, but how many candidates are engaging in meaningful discussions with consumers of mental health services? …particularly with individuals who are enrolled in public healthcare and human service programs?
Which candidate is willing to dialog with voters who live in poverty and cannot afford to make campaign donations? Which candidate will demonstrate dignity in real and measurable ways?
